A wine that rewards patience.
The 2023 Heritage follows on from the hugely popular 2022 vintage, one of the most commercially successful wines we have ever produced. The 2023 blend of co-fermented Grenache and Shiraz was picked earlier, for a little more elegance and balance.
Similar to the previous vintage, fermentation was conducted under a submerged cap in our heritage concrete vats, with 10% carbonic Mataro blended in to lift aromatics and freshness. The wine is unique within our range, having been matured entirely in our cellar using a combination of seasoned large and small format oak, followed by an extended period of bottle aging before release.
The result is a compelling combination of primary, secondary, and tertiary characters. Roasted black cherries and wild berries are layered with gravelly iodine notes, forest floor, and subtle spice, reflecting both the maturity of the wine and the distinctive Swan Valley terroir. Fine tannins and bright natural acidity provide balance and length.
A lovely counterpoint to our typical early-release wines, unlike many of our wines this one has done the waiting for you. Heritage arrives ready to enjoy now or in the future in its burgundy-inspired packaging and hand-dipped burgundy wax seal.
Pair with slow-cooked lamb shoulder, duck, chargrilled mushrooms, or mature hard cheeses such as an aged Comtè. Very limited release.
